Step into the story of Building Community Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization that was born out of a desire to make a difference in the Bronzeville community. Founded by Gallery Guichard Owners Andre and Frances Guichard, this organization understands the importance of being part of the community and creating positive change.
In 2017, Andre Guichard was honored with the title of Mayor of Bronzeville by the Chicago Defender. Instead of simply accepting the title, Andre and Frances decided to use it as an opportunity to give back. And so, the Mayor of Bronzeville Ball was created. This annual gala event not only brings the community together for a night of dancing, live entertainment, and art at Gallery Guichard, but it also serves as a fundraiser for worthy nonprofits that support youth in the community.
Over the past seven years, the Mayor and First Lady of Bronzeville Ball have raised over $60,000 for organizations such as Ignite (formerly Teen Living Programs), Dunamis Community Advocate Services, XS Tennis and Education Foundation, Equality Should be Normal, Friends of Bronzeville Classical, Luv Institute, True Star, and Kaleidoscope4Kids.org. These funds have made a significant impact on the lives of young people in Bronzeville.
In 2019, the Building Community Foundation was established as the fiscal agency for arts organizations. This means that your sponsorship and donations will directly support programming for events like the Bronzeville Art District Trolley Tour and Palm Sunday. By becoming a sponsor, you can play a vital role in ensuring that these events continue to thrive and bring joy to the community.

DCAS programs are what thrives our organization and spearheads our mission to be advocates of change within youth, teens, and families. We currently partner with Chicago Public Schools within low income & at risk communities. As a partner we support the mission of principals by serving their students and parents through our school year round Mentoring Program, Intervention Program, and Parent Program.

“THE XS TENNIS AND EDUCATION FOUNDATION (XSTEF) MISSION IS TO PROVIDE CHICAGO’S UNDERSERVED YOUTH WITH AN ENRICHING SAFE-HAVEN AND POSITIVE PATHWAY TO COLLEGE THROUGH A COMMUNITY-BASED TENNIS AND ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT PROGRAM.”
We strive to introduce as many underserved Chicago youth as possible to tennis, with the intention of guiding them down a pathway to college through the attainment of a college tennis scholarship and sustained excellence thereafter in whatever endeavor they pursue.
